AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is dead after a shooting at an apartment complex in central Austin, the Austin Police Department said during a media briefing Friday.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 10100 block of Middle Fiskville Road, which is near Interstate 35 between Braker Lane and Rundberg Lane.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man, who was not identified Friday, with “obvious gunshot wounds” outside the entrance of the complex, APD said during the briefing.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

APD said there isn’t an ongoing threat to the public.

This is being investigated as Austin’s 51st homicide, according to police.
