The first crash took place at about 8:30 p.m. near the 8100 block of North Lamar Boulevard.

Police say two pedestrians were crossing the road when an unknown vehicle struck them. One of the victims suffered minor injuries but the other, 37-year-old Blair Dismukes, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The vehicle that hit them fled and has not been yet identified,” officials wrote.

The second crash happened a few hours later, just before midnight, at the 7300 block of East Riverside Drive.

Rosbel “Rudy” Tamez, 64, was crossing Riverside Drive near Uphill Street when he was struck by a driver in a Jeep Patriot. Tamez was transported to the St. David’s South Austin hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

APD is investigating both cases and anyone with information, in either case, is asked to contact APD’s vehicular homicide unit detectives at (512) 974-5594.
