APD identifies cyclist killed in north Austin crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The cyclist killed after being struck by a car in north Austin last Friday has been identified, according to Austin police. 

Minh-Tan Pham, 17, was hit and killed while riding his bike near E. Parmer Lane and E. Yager Lane at 6:23 p.m. According to APD, Pham disregarded posted stop and yield signs and crossed the 1600 block of Parmer Lane.

Investigators report that Pham entered into a stretch of roadway with a 60 mile per hour speed limit, and cut in front of an oncoming vehicle, a blue 2012 Toyota Camry.

Austin-Travis County EMS transported Pham to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center. He later died from his injuries.

APD is investigating this crash, and encourage anyone with information to contact the APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-3761.

This is Austin 67h traffic fatality of 2018.
