APD asking for help to solve Jollyville Rd. sex assault

Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are asking for help as they work to solve the lastest sexual assault in northwest Austin.

The attack happened Monday afternoon inside a unit at the High Oaks Apartment Homes on Jollyville Road.

“What I really need is your assistance,” said Austin Police Lt. Gena Curtis.

She said APD has very little information to go on. “We don’t want this to happen to anyone else,” she said. “Here we are on the heels of people coming to our city for South By Southwest, to have a good time and enjoy our community, and we have an incident that raises concerns for me and for many.”

Curtis said she’s asking anyone who was on Jollyville Road Monday afternoon to think back and see if they saw anyone or anything suspicious.

“If our residents see something that is disturbing to them or raises an eyebrow or raises hair on the neck stand up, please call us,” she said.

The Jollyville Road attack is the third incident in February in which a woman said she was attacked by a stranger.

On February 1, a woman reported an attack at Mueller Park, and on February 2, APD said someone knocked on a woman’s door on Clayton Lane and went inside and attacked her.

“All of these are open investigations that we are working on a daily basis,” Lt. Curtis said.

She added that DNA samples from all three attacks have been sent out for testing. She hopes the results will give them some leads.
