AFD digs man out of trench in northwest Austin

The Austin Fire Department and Austin-Travis County EMS helped rescue a man stuck in a trench in northwest Austin.

Crews got the call around midnight of a man needing rescue in the 10,000 block of Lake Creek Parkway near U.S. Highway 183 and Farm to Market Road 620. AFD says the man was working on repairing a 24-inch water main break on Lake Creek Parkway when the walls of the trench caved in.

Firefighters pulled him out of the trench and he went to the hospital for injuries to his legs, ATC EMS said. He’s expected to be OK.

Crews are back to working on repairing the water main. No one is without water at this time, but Lake Creek Parkway between Fm 620 and Highmeadow Drive southbound lanes are closed.
