The Williams family and their friend were in a Toyota Corolla heading west on SH 21 and had stopped at Quarter Horse Loop to turn left around 8:50 p.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the driver of a Ford Pickup failed to control its speed and hit the Toyota. DPS said surveillance video from a nearby gun store showed the truck didn’t brake until .6 seconds before impact.

The investigation is still ongoing and it’s not known if the truck driver was cited.
