3 hurt in 6-car pileup on I-35 Thursday morning

UPDATE: 8:40 a.m.: 
All lanes of Interstate 35 have been reopened after a 6-car pileup led to three hospitalizations Thursday morning. 
Heavy delays persist drivers should allow for extra time.  
 
UPDATE 7:40 a.m.: 

Six cars were involved in a collision on North Interstate 35 near Rundberg Lane early Thursday and one of the cars rolled over, according to Austin-Travis County EMS. 

Seven people were evaluated by medical personnel and three were transported to the hospital with injuries. One of the people had sustained life-threatening injuries, officials say.

AUSTIN (KXAN) —  Austin police are working to clear a seven-car pileup on Interstate 35 in north Austin during Thursday morning rush hour. 

The collision happened at about 6:35 a.m. at the 8800 block of North I-35 in the southbound lanes, according to a tweet from the Austin-Travis County EMS. Both directions of traffic are affected. 

Two people were transported to the hospital with injuries though their conditions are unknown. Three ambulances are on scene, officials say. 

Heavy delays are being reported and drivers are urged to avoid the area. You can check for alternate routes on the KXAN Traffic Page.
