AUSTIN (KXAN) — A recent study by the University of Texas is giving a better look at the future of downtown Austin.

The study reveals that there are currently 27 emerging projects all in various stages of development, including:

  • Six new high rises on Cesar Chavez, including the Block 185 office complex and a 46-story skyscraper overlooking Republic Square
  • Along Waller Creek: A medical research facility that’s part of the Dell Seton Medical Complex and a 5,000-seat ampitheater at Waterloo Park
  • Eight new hotels, including a 32-story tower off Cesar Chavez featuring a hotel and apartments, a new Marriot west of the Austin Convention Center and a 42-room boutique hotel in east Austin

Additionally, several new condos are coming to Rainey Street, one project is even budgeted at $1 billion!

The stretch of Waller Creek that connects Lady Bird Lake is also gaining three new parks connected by a running trail.
