AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are reporting that a 19-year-old was killed in a three-car collision on the morning of April 18.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Toyota 4Runner was exiting a private driveway at 8000 W. Highway 290, when the driver of a Ford Mustang attempted to avoid it, but struck its front end. The driver of the 4Runner failed to comply with signs indicating the only right turns could be made and made a left turn in order to exit the driveway.

The Mustang, which was traveling westbound in the inside lane, continued into eastbound lanes of traffic and was struck by a Dodge Ram.

The driver of the Mustang was pronounced dead at the scene.

If you have any information on this case, you’re asked to call APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit Detectives at (512) 974-6935.

This is Austin’s 20th fatal traffic crash of 2019.
