AUSTIN (KXAN) — The right lane of Ranch to Market Road 2222 in northwest Austin will remain closed for “a good chunk of the day,” on Thursday, according to Brad Wheelis with the Texas Department of Transportation. Crews are working to clean up rocks from a rock slide Wednesday, Wheelis told KXAN.
Westbound traffic on RM 2222 in northwest Austin was closed Wednesday due to falling rocks.
In September 2017, crews had to clear Loop 360 near the Pennybacker bridge after two rock slides. Both happened after rain fell on Austin, which at the time a TxDOT spokeswoman said may have caused the soil and rocks to loosen.
