Man arrested during attempted “Mission Impossible” style burglary

Local News

KYLE, Texas (KXAN) — One man is behind bars and Kyle police are looking for a second person after an attempted elaborate heist at a Target store Tuesday morning.

The City of Kyle says Dustin Ammons, 37, broke into the store Mission Impossible style by cutting a hole in the roof and using a rope, harness and grappling hook to get inside.

Surveillance video caught him smashing electronics cases and loading duffel bags with items. Officers entered the store and found him making a poor attempt to hide behind a rack in the shoe department, according to the release from the city.

Kyle Police Chief Jeff Barnett says Ammons had a two-way radio with an earpiece and admitted to talking with the getaway driver, but he wouldn’t identify them.

Police are still looking for that suspect.

Ammons is in the Hays County Jail charged with Burglary of Building and Felony Criminal Mischief.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Kyle Police Department.
