Kristin McLain funeral starts, hundreds in attendance


AUSTIN (KXAN) — Funeral services for STAR Flight nurse Kristin McLain will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Hill Country Bible Church, 12124 Ranch Rd. 620, but authorities are warning drivers to be prepared for heavy delays along the procession route.

The procession will leave the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Rd. 620, in Lakeway, at 10 a.m., and continue down RR 620 to the church. All lanes of traffic in both directions will be closed along the 13-mile route starting at 9:45 a.m. This closure will include the RM 2222 intersection.

“Thank you for your patience as we honor our friend and colleague,” Austin-Travis County EMS officials posted on their Facebook page.

RR 620 will reopen once all the processions vehicles reach the church.

Following the service inside the church, an separate service will be held outside the church where McLain will be honored with a 21-gun salute and a flyover. A STAR Flight helicopter will also be on display during the outdoor ceremony.

There is no procession scheduled following the completion of the ceremony, but traffic will be delayed as people leave the church. The entire service is expected to last until about 2 p.m.

The funeral service is open to the public.KXAN and will broadcast the services beginning at 11:30 a.m.
