AUSTIN (KXAN) — Local doughnut shop, Ken’s Donuts has received their third score below 70 from health inspectors, according to the Austin/Travis County Health and Human Services Department, forcing it to close temporarily.

The shop located at 2820 Guadalupe will be closed for the next 48 hours. Ken’s Donuts’ owner told KXAN they are closed due to plumbing problems. A spokesperson for the health department says if a business receives three scores below 70 in the span of 36 months, they have to shut down for a short period of time.

Upon arriving at the shop, a KXAN photographer witnessed the owner pull down a homemade sign placed over the health inspectors notice. The owner’s sign said “closed will be open on Thursday.” The yellow health inspector sign visibly says “CLOSED by the order of the City Health Authority.”

The shop will be inspected again after the 48 hour window to fix their issues before receiving another grade.
