AUSTIN (KXAN) — A judge says current Travis County assistant district attorney Gary Cobb can remain on the ballot for the Travis County District Attorney race.

Cobb ran a petition drive to get on the ballot, but his opponent in the Democratic primary, Rick Reed, challenged his petition. Reed claimed many of the signatures were not valid, leaving Cobb without enough signatures to legally be on the ballot.

A judge heard the case Friday morning and determined the signatures were valid and allowed Cobb to stay on the ballot. A final ruling will come on Feb. 24, less than one week before the March 1 Primary.
