NEW ORLEANS (KXAN) — Longhorns senior defensive end Charles Omenihu came back for one last year for a moment like this.
The effort and focus Longhorns like Omenihu displayed for 60 minutes in New Orleans Tuesday night was rewarded in a shocking win over Georgia.
However, it wasn’t shocking to the Longhorn coaches or players. Texas coach Tom Herman’s record when his team is an underdog just keeps getting better.
A lot of Texas players took that underdog spirit and and ran (or pounded) at Georgia for a 28-21 statement win in the Sugar Bowl.
The Texas offense, defense and special teams were all superior to the Bulldogs even though the yearly stats were massively slanted in Georgia’s favor.
All it takes is one night to change the direction of a program. Texas did it in its 10th win of the season.
