AUSTIN (KXAN) — When players transfer from schools, they usually make the decision after the fall or spring semester, its a little more unusual to leave two weeks into training camp.  That has happened at Texas where defensive backs John Bonney and Eric Cuffee both announced on Tuesday that they are transferring.

Bonney is not only leaving Texas, but Texas Tech announced Tuesday afternoon that he has joined the program.  That gives Bonney just two weeks before the Red Raiders open against Ole Miss in Houston.  Bonney committed to Mack Brown and has started 15 of his 37 games over the past three years. “I would like to thank The University of Texas for giving me the opportunity to graduate and earn a bachelor’s degree,” Bonney said.  “I will cherish the relationships made with my teammates and the memories we shared on and off the field.  I will forever be a Longhorn.”

Cufee has not seen the field in his two seasons at Texas.  Cuffee announced that he is transferring to Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas.

Texas also announced that fans can meet the Longhorns Sunday from 12:30 to 2:30 at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.  UT will provide posters for fans to get autographs.
