SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — As news of a student killed in a car crash circulated through Hays High School on Wednesday morning, the administration at Hays Consolidated Independent School District had to make a new ‘In Memoriam” flyer to add to the list of current and former students who have died in the past few months. Joshua Otto, 16, died in a crash in South Austin on Tuesday night.

A district spokesperson says two former students and four current students have died since October.

Former Hays High School student 20-year-old Will Trevillion, who was a Texas State University football player, died Jan. 6. He had reportedly suffered health problems, but we’re still waiting on autopsy results to learn his cause of death.

Brothers Tanner, 17, and Larry Earp, 25, died while kayaking on Canyon Lake last weekend. Tanner attended Lehman High School and Larry was an alum. Funeral services for the brothers will be held at Harrell’s Funeral Home in Kyle at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016.

Buda Elementary lost 8-year-old Eleanor Higdon on Dec. 12 in a horse riding accident. A community site says her mother teaches art at Buda Elementary and her dad also teaches in the district.

In October, Elijah Hernandez, 17, died after wrestling with his friends.

The district has a webpage called “Helping Our Neighbors” where the Hays CISD community can help other HCISD families in need.
