Governor Abbott endorses Ted Cruz for president


AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Governor’s office just confirmed to KXAN that Governor Greg Abbott is backing Texas Senator Ted Cruz for president.

Abbott is planning on making the official announcement this afternoon in Houston. His endorsement was first posted in a YouTube video on Cruz’s website.

“It is our duty to as Texas conservatives to support a leader we can trust to restore our values. That’s why I am supporting Ted Cruz for president,” said Abbott.

This latest endorsement comes as the GOP candidates get ready for the debate Feb. 25. Current polls show Cruz is leading the pack in Texas.

Abbott will make his official announcement today at 1 p.m. in Houston.
