A firefighter suffered a minor hand injury in a south Austin kitchen fire Saturday afternoon, said the Austin Fire Department.
The call for the fire came in at about 2:16 p.m. at a home in the 800 block of Emerald Wood Drive west of South 1st Street and north of West Stassney Lane, AFD said.
Investigators said it was caused by a malfunction in a gas regulator behind a stove.
The fire caused about $15,000 in damage, they said, and displaced one resident who is now staying with friends.
The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment.
