AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Yesterday's cold front will leave today's temps struggling to leave the 50s -- more than 20 degrees cooler than the near-record warmth we had Wednesday afternoon. Mostly cloudy skies will stretch area-wide with spotty to scattered showers developing late afternoon, evening and night.

Showers will continue overnight into Friday morning before activity lulls by afternoon. A few spot showers can't be ruled out Saturday, however, it will not be a total washout. In fact, Saturday looks to be the driest day of the weekend as rain chances increase once again Sunday.

Missing in Texas: ‘John and Joseph’s Law’ could require police to report to NamUs

HOUSTON (KXAN) — Standing on the side of a packed street in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, David Fritts held his son's picture and talked to anyone who would listen.

The photo was a more recent one of Joseph smiling. Fritts would show it to shop owners along the border and people crossing from Texas.

LISTEN: Family searches for missing Marine for two years, pushes for new Texas law

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A new Catalyst podcast episode explores a major update to an investigation KXAN did two years ago into missing persons in Texas.

Back then, listeners met the family of Jamie Mayberry, who disappeared in 1999, and learned about a tool that's not being used enough: the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System or NamUs. Now, a father's two-year search for his missing Marine son has led a state lawmaker to file a bill requiring police in Texas to report to the system.
