LAKE DALLAS, Texas (AP) — Prosecutors say a 59-year-old ex-teacher and coach at a high school in North Texas must serve eight years of probation for having sex with a student.
The Denton Record-Chronicle reported Wednesday that Dugan Walker pleaded guilty last week to having an improper relationship between an educator and a student.
The former Lake Dallas High School teacher and softball coach was arrested last August, placed on administrative leave, then resigned.
Investigators say Walker, since 2013, texted the teenage girl with luring messages such as “my wife’s not home.” An affidavit says the girl told police she had sex with Walker at his residence.
Walker must also surrender his teaching license, do community service and undergo drug and alcohol testing. He’s barred from contacting the victim or her family.
