28 AISD schools will be frozen to transfers for 2018-2019 year

AUSTIN (KXAN) — More than two dozen Austin schools will not allow transfers for the next school year. The Austin Independent School District says all of these schools are expected to either meet or exceed their capacity.

AISD said even priority transfer requests — such as those for siblings, tracking and majority-to-minority transfers — will not be available at these frozen schools and will only be accepted at schools that have space.

Frozen high schools:

  • Akins
  • Bowie
  • McCallum

Frozen middle schools:

  • Lamar
  • Murchison

Frozen elementary schools:

  • Baldwin
  • Baranoff
  • Becker, Pre-K to 2 (dual language application accepted)
  • Blazier
  • Brentwood
  • Bryker Woods
  • Casis
  • Cowan
  • Davis
  • Doss
  • Gullett
  • Hill
  • Kiker
  • Lee, K to 5 (will accept sixth grade transfers)
  • Maplewood
  • Mathews
  • Menchaca
  • Oak Hill
  • Reilly, Pre-K to 2 (dual language application accepted)
  • Ridgetop
  • Summitt
  • Sunset Valley, Pre-K to 2 (dual language application accepted)
  • Zilker

Those wishing to transfer their students within AISD can apply online, in person, by mail, via fax or via email to the Office of Student Services between Jan. 2-31. The district will start accepting requests from those out of the district Feb. 1. All requests require a parent ID and proof of residence. More information on how to apply can be found on the AISD website or by calling 512-414-1726.
