East Austin shooting victim identified, police search for suspects

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A night of gambling in East Austin turned deadly when three armed suspects arrived at a home on Elmira Road. One of the suspects is now in jail while police search for the other two suspects accused of killing Ashton Dominick Collins, 32.

Witnesses told police they were gambling on Aug. 11 when three armed men showed up allegedly to commit a robbery, according to the affidavit. The suspects shot two people around 9:30 p.m. before leaving the house. One of the suspects has been identified as Marvin Gettrelle Henson, 44.

Collins died at the scene and the other victim was taken to the hospital. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Collins’ death a homicide.

Henson is being held on a $30,000 bond at the Travis County Jail. Anyone with information is asked to call the Homicide Tip Line at 512-477-3588 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS.
