The Department of Public Safety says a driver won’t be charged with any crime after hitting a man walking on Farm to Market Road 620 just south of Mansfield Dam Wednesday night at 9 p.m.
According to Austin-Travis County EMS, the man in his 30s was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. DPS says the man can’t be identified until he wakes up.
According to DPS, the driver contacted Travis County Sheriff’s office after a friend told him of police activity near where he had driven. The driver told a DPS trooper he drove away from the scene because he didn’t know he had hit anything.
FM 620 was closed for a few hours after the crash but has since reopened.
