AUSTIN (KXAN) — A Central Texas man faces two years in prison after police say he changed an electronic sign on the highway.

Officers say Geoffrey Eltgroth, 22, walked up to the sign along the 183 frontage road in Cedar Park May 22. Eltgroth guessed the sign’s password and was able to re-write the message.

Instead of “Construction work ahead,” the sign was changed to “Drive Crazy Y’all.” Police say he admitted he changed the sign to be funny.

The owner of the property said the changes caused a loss of $100,000, according to the affidavit. Eltgroth faces a third degree felony and is currently in custody at the Williamson County Jail.MORE: Austin road signs display warnings about Zombie invasion.
