DPS arrests 15 gang members in meth bust

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A meth bust on Thursday by the Department of Public Safety has 15 alleged gang members in custody at the Travis County Jail.

An eight-month DPS investigation uncovered illegal activity by two prison gangs, Texas Syndicate and Tango Blast, believed to be selling methamphetamines to Austin. Warrants were served June 30; officers found one and a half pounds of meth, three weapons, and $1,200 in currency.

All 15 suspects are accused of engaging in organized criminal activity and manufacturing as well as distributing a controlled substance, according to DPS.

Suspects include:

  2. Juan Esparza Colis, 21, Austin
  3. Lucy Elias, 36, Austin
  4. Carlos Nerio, 39, Austin
  5. Harrell Mitchell, 35, Austin
  6. Miguel Martinez, 23, Austin
  7. Octavio Villarruel 28, Austin
  8. Patrick Lilly, 37, Austin
  9. Nicole Shirley, 28, Austin
  10. Roxanne Barker, 37, Austin
  11. Vincent Gonzales, 32, Austin
  12. Kinnet Carter, 58 Austin
  13. Michael Nagel, 37 Austin
  14. Gerardo Zavala, 20 Austin
  15. Fernando Davila, 32 Austin

Five people were just arrested by DPS June 24 for drug trafficking and gang activity. Officers seized $20,000 in currency, 3 pounds of methamphetamines, cocaine and numerous weapons from the MORA drug trafficking organization.
