GROVE CITY, OH (WCMH) – Photographs found in a tote bag at a Salvation Army thrift shop have led to rape charges against a Ashville, Ohio man.

The Polaroid pictures show an adult and a prepubescent child engaging in sexual conduct.

Grove City police say that when they confronted Gary Sovie, 48, with the photographs, he admitted taking the photographs of himself with the little girl. The police report quotes Sovie as telling detectives, “I am a sick person. That was me. Just put a bullet in my head.”

Sovie covered his face with his hands at his arraignment in Franklin County Municipal Court Tuesday morning. A judge ordered him held on $150,000 bond.

Employees of the thrift store, located on South High Street in Columbus, called police when they found the photographs. Police also found several pieces of mail in the tote bag that helped them link the bag to Sovie.

Grove City detectives say it’s possible there are other victims. The investigation is ongoing.
