AUSTIN (KXAN) — A new film that debuted at the University of Texas takes an in-depth look at trauma and the overall effect it can have on your body.
Resilience by KPJR Films debuted at the Blanton of Art Auditorium, Monday. The documentary looks at a biological syndrome caused by abuse and neglect in childhood, and in turn, leads to toxic stress. James Redford and Karen Pritzker explored the trauma young people face in today’s world in an effort to understand and educate people about their experience.
“The impact on their brains and bodies as the grow up, much that later in life, they often have health problems. In their teen years, the problem of that toxic stress, it leaves them more vulnerable, to making difficult and impulsive decisions, that only make matters worse.” said the co-founder of KPJR Films James Redford.
