MESQUITE, Texas (KXAN) – Dramatic video caught over the weekend on a police dashboard camera showed a pair of Mesquite police officers pulling an unconscious man from a burning SUV.

The officers were to get the man to safety after the crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 30.

According to the officer, the driver’s clothes were starting to catch fire and his leg was broken. He is currently in the hospital recovering from his injuries.

Investigators say the driver ran off the roadway and hit a pillar holding a highway sign before his SUV caught fire. They are still working to determine why he went of the road.
