UT student reports being threatened with a knife near campus

A University of Texas at Austin student reported to police she ran away from The Drag after being threatened with a knife Monday night.

It happened in the 2000 block of Guadalupe Street at 6:15 p.m. on March 26. UT Austin Police posted about this incident Tuesday on its Twitter account to warn the campus. Currently, UTPD only has information on the location and the suspect’s physical appearance.

The student described the suspect as a white man who was anywhere from 5-foot-9 to 6 feet tall. He had blonde hair, a beard and wore a red coat.

Police have not specified if the person who allegedly threatened the girl with a knife was homeless, but the number of calls both on and off campus involving the homeless and transient community has increased in the past five years, according to a November report.
