GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) — It’s not often authorities catch people in the act of installing credit card skimmers, it’s always discovering the skimmers there after the fact.
However, on Wednesday morning, when a Williamson County Sheriff’s Office deputy saw what appeared to be suspicious activity happening at the Speedy Stop on Leander Road in Georgetown, they took action.
According to a tweet by Sheriff Robert Chody, two men, identified as Robin Companioni-Cepero and Galvez Hernandez, 25, were “messing with a fuel pump” and it appeared as if they were “trying to install a skimmer device.”
When the two men left the gas station, the deputy pulled them over, where they located a skimmer on the suspects, says the sheriff.
Both men have since posted bond and released from jail.
