WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody says it’s lucky there wasn’t a law enforcement line of duty death Wednesday night when a deputy’s vehicle was hit while investigating another crash.

The deputy’s unit was hit on northbound MoPac Expressway at the State Highway 45 west/east split. Fortunately, the deputy was uninjured.

Sheriff Chody says the entrance to westbound SH 45 was closed after the crash.

A photo of the crash shows the left rear of the deputy’s SUV badly damaged, with a taillight barely hanging in place.

Additional information on the crash was not immediately available.
