A man is accused of doing “hot laps” around an empty construction site in Pflugerville with his 3-month-old daughter in the backseat.
On Sunday morning, officers found Carlos Daniel Gomez’ Chevrolet Suburban stuck with its rear axle high-centered on a concrete curb in the lot at 1901 East Wells Branch Parkway, where an IDEA school is being built. The baby was in a rear-facing child’s seat.
An employee had called police after watching the truck drive around the area on surveillance video when no one was supposed to be on site today. Officers reviewed the video and saw the SUV “yawing, sliding sideways, and traveling at an unsafe speeds (sic) throughout the video,” according to an arrest affidavit.
Gomez, 18, faces an Abandoning or Endangering a Child Charge, and his bond was set at $15,000. He bonded out of custody.
