AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man is dead after a shooting in north Austin Sunday night, according to the Austin Police Department.
As of about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, police said there is no suspect in custody — though officers are looking for someone.
Senior Austin Police Officer Alexandra Parker explained in a briefing the department received multiple reports of gunshots heard in the 5100 block of Longspur Boulevard around 7:20 p.m. The area is east of North Lamar Boulevard and north of W. Rundberg Lane.
Parker said officers found a man on the ground with obvious signs of trauma when they arrived to the scene about five minutes later.
Austin-Travis County EMS spokesman said medics got the call to respond at 7:22 p.m.
Though officers tried to save his life, Ofc. Parker said the man was pronounced dead at 7:36 p.m. Police are investigating this as a homicide.
