Man found dead inside car after shooting at east Austin Waffle House

Crime

AUSTIN (KXAN) — At around 4:40 a.m. Saturday morning, Austin Police Department officers reported to an east Austin Waffle House after reports of a multiple-vehicle disturbance.

When officers arrived at the restaurant located at 8800 East 290, they say they found shell cases in the parking lot.

Meanwhile, an additional crime scene a short distance from the Waffle House was discovered, APD says. There, officers found a man dead inside of a vehicle.

Police believe the shooting took place in the parking lot before the occupant(s) of the vehicle drove away to the second scene, located on Happy Trail, where the victim died.

It’s not known if the victim drove himself away from the scene or if someone else was in the vehicle, however.

APD says there are not currently any suspects but officials are continuing to investigate.
