Police: Gang members charged with San Marcos hardware store burglary

Two men suspected of breaking into Hoffman’s Supply hardware store in San Marcos in February have been arrested.

On April 19, San Marcos police detectives arrested Daniel De Luna, 39, in San Antonio and booked into the Hays County Jail.

Several days later, Jesse Garza Jr., 44, also of San Antonio was identified as the second suspect involved in the Feb. 2 burglary. He has been in the Bexar County Jail since March 1 on an unrelated charge.

Video surveillance showed the suspects attaching a chain to the front door of the hardware store at 440 S. Guadalupe St. to rip the doors from the building.

They are accused of stealing four welders from the store before getting away.

De Luna and Garza are both documented criminal gang members, San Marcos police say. De Luna is a member of Tango Orejon and Garza is a member of Mexican Mafia. Both suspects remain jailed.
