AUSTIN (KXAN) — No charges will be brought against an officer who shot a man after he allegedly stabbed a woman to death in central Austin back in December.

Officer Alfredo Delvalle was among those who responded to a group home at 5007 Lynwood Street Dec. 15, 2017 after hearing that a man was assaulting a woman. Officers saw Aubrey Quentin Garrett “pacing” with a knife in his hand. They told him to drop it, but he ended up throwing patio furniture and continuing to stab the woman.

Delvalle shot Garrett to try to defend the woman, later identified as Andrea Faye Lindsey, 43. She died at the scene.

Garrett went to the hospital and had surgery after he was shot. He is still in the Travis County Jail on a 1,000,000 bond and faces a murder charge.

Delvalle, a 23-year-veteran of the force, was placed on leave after the shooting.
