AUSTIN (KXAN) — A nonprofit group that helps adopt out animals has been reunited with its stolen trailer, after an officer spotted it early Friday morning.

A member of SAFE Refuge of Central Texas says the agency’s black trailer was parked behind the Tomlinson’s Feed store at 4211 South Lamar Blvd. when it was stolen Monday night into Tuesday morning.

The 12-foot trailer was full of new supplies, fundraising items and rescue t-shirts used for their adoption events. The agency says it took them two years of fundraising to get enough money to get the trailer and the items. The organization says it was found around 3 a.m. with no plates — about two miles from where it was taken. All the contents are still in it.

“The only things gone are the plates, locks and a night of sleep,” Theresa Palm told KXAN in an email.

SAFE Refuge of Central Texas regularly holds pet adoption events at the Tomlinson’s where they park.
