ROUND ROCK (KXAN) — A Mississippi police officer’s stolen duty weapon was found this week more than 600 miles away in Round Rock after a local officer responded to a disturbance at a hotel.
It’s unclear how long the firearm has been missing, but the serial number on the gun confirms it was stolen from the City of Horn Lake Police Department in DeSoto, Mississippi, according to an arrest affidavit.
A Round Rock Police Department officer located the gun while responding to reports of a fist fight about 9:45 a.m. Thursday on the fourth floor of a hotel.
The fight broke out as four men were playing Madden Football on a Playstation, and one of them became angry that he made and lost a bet that he couldn’t cover, according to an arrest affidavit.
All four suspects denied the physical fight had occurred and said one of the men went into the hallway and was “disruptive.”
“All four males had a strong odor of raw and burnt marijuana coming from their person,” the affidavit states.
The stolen Glock 22 was located in 22-year-old Kwejohn Dremar Holley’s backpack during a search, and “dispatch advised the firearm was a police officer’s duty weapon.”
Holley faces a state jail felony theft charge and a judge set his bond at $5,000.
