AUSTIN (KXAN) — A patient leaving Dell Seton Medical Center had a knife pulled on him Wednesday afternoon.

University of Texas police said the discharged patient was outside the hospital’s emergency room around 12:49 p.m. when the suspect pulled out the knife.

The suspect asked the patient if he had a knife. Police said the patient told the suspect he didn’t and then went for help.

Described as a white male in his 30s, the suspect was wearing a black shirt with multi-colored writing, jeans and a blue backpack.

UTPD is actively investigating the incident and asks anyone who sees someone matching the suspect description to call 911.

In a reminder to UT students, the police department said members of the campus community who feel unsafe walking through campus can use SURE Walk by calling 512-232-9255 or by emailing orderasurewalk@gmail.com.
