Man charged with shooting roommate in Pflugerville

PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (KXAN) — A night of drinking and arguing between roommates in Pflugerville ended with one person getting shot multiple times, according to an arrest affidavit. Police say the shooting happened on Wednesday around 2 a.m. in the 800 block of Caribou Ridge.

Witnesses at the home say 26-year-old Alexis Rodea Jr. was involved in a verbal argument with one of their roommate’s when the situation escalated. The witness told police Rodea was seen with a “guitar in one hand, a pistol in the other and an AK-47 assault rifle slung on his back.” The roommate was able to take the guitar and pistol from Rodea, but a short time later he heard Rodea yelling for his roommates to call police. The witness said he heard approximately six shots and heard the 26-year-old roommate calling for help, continued in the affidavit.

After the shooting, Rodea left the home but officers were able to identify his car in the area and pulled him over. The officer who pulled him over observed an empty handgun holster and loaded handgun magazine in the car, according to the affidavit.

Investigators determined a total of eight shots were fired and it appeared the suspect “began firing on the victim while standing and continued firing while he was on the ground.” The officers at the scene said the victim had at least four obvious gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.

Rodea is in the Travis County Jail charged with aggravated assault.
