AUSTIN (KXAN) — A 30 year-old man was arrested after an hours-long standoff with Austin Police Department’s SWAT team on Saturday night — all in relation to a fatal road rage incident earlier in the day.
Officers first responded to the shooting around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Interstate 35 and River Oaks Drive in north Austin, just north of Braker Lane.
APD said a woman reported someone pulled a gun out and shot her.

Officers said they couldn’t find the woman when they arrived, so they continued searching the area. They found her and rendered aid with the help of Austin-Travis County EMS and the Austin Fire Department, but she was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Later Saturday, officers were led to an apartment complex in north Austin, where police said they believed the suspect lived.
The suspect was arrested and police also detained a woman but they’re still investigating out her involvement.
APD said it is unknown if the suspect and victim knew each other.
