Four juveniles in a stolen vehicle led police on a chase through Kyle and San Marcos Monday night.
San Marcos police say just after 8 p.m., Kyle police asked them to assist with a stolen vehicle out of Austin. Kyle officers initially tried to stop the driver on Interstate 35 near Hopkins Street in San Marcos but the driver took off.
San Marcos police then joined the chase and followed the vehicle, a Toyota Tacoma, through San Marcos. During the chase, officers tried to deploy spike strips but the patrol cars were too close to the suspect vehicle.
The San Marcos Police Department ended up using its Ford Explorer to perform a PIT maneuver (bumping the fleeing vehicle from the side near the rear wheel). The suspect vehicle ended up stopping at State Highway 123 at the I-35 frontage road.
Four juvenile males were taken into custody.
