FORT WORTH, Texas (KXAN/KXAS) — A Fort Worth police officer was fired Monday for “multiple violations” following an internal review of an arrest involving a Taser.
In August, Sgt. Kenneth Pierce and other officers responded to a domestic violence call. Officials said in a statement that body camera footage showed that when a woman was trying to show her ID, Pierce became “impatient, initiated an unnecessary physical confrontation, and then ordered a rookie police officer to ‘Tase’ the woman.”
Charges were later dropped against the woman.
A lawyer for Pierce said he will likely appeal the termination. He had worked for the department for 22 years.
It is not known if the rookie officer who used the taser will also face disciplinary action.
