Five men have been arrested and are accused of robbing a pizza delivery driver in San Marcos at the beginning of April.

The driver brought some pizza to the Aqua 16 apartments, but the person at the address he was given told him they didn’t order any. So he called the person who did, and they told him to go to a different apartment.

Two men came up to him, and as he started unloading the pizza, one of them hit him in the head with a large metal water bottle, according to police. “Both ran off with the pizza and money bag,” San Marcos police said in a statement. The driver wasn’t seriously hurt.

Surveillance video showed three men keeping lookout for the two men, and police say they all went back to a nearby motel. Officers found out that a number of Gary Job Corps students had been staying in that same hotel, and they worked with the company to look through student photos and match them to the surveillance video.

Police arrested 21-year-old Da Lavon Lamar Scruggs April 13, and he told them that Andrew Douglas Jones, Jr., 21; Deshaun Adriel Moore, 20; Daniel Cornelius Hagans, 20; and Sean Austin Garrett, 18, were also involved. They all face aggravated robbery charges.
