EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 27-year-old man was arrested after police say he beat his infant daughter Friday in east El Paso.

Anthony Williams is charged with injury to a child by the El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit, according to a news release.

Police said officers arrived to a family violence call Friday morning in the 12000 block of Tierra Canada.

Fire Medical Services were treating an unresponsive 1-year-old girl, who was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, the release said.

Police said Williams struck his daughter several times after she kept falling while he was “teaching” her to walk, the release said.

Williams was arrested and booked into El Paso County Detention Facility under a $750,000 bond.
