CEDAR PARK, Texas (KXAN) — A man who has a history of robbing people has been charged with robbery in connection with a carjacking in Cedar Park.
Brandon Anthony Hovey, 35, is accused of approaching a family and forcing them out of their SUV in the parking lot of the H-E-B on East Whitestone Boulevard around 10 p.m. on July 7.
The victim left his SUV running when he went inside the store to grab a few things. His wife and two children stayed in the car. The wife said the suspect opened the driver seat door, sat down, and told the woman to get her children and get out. Then, he drove off.
The woman said the suspect did not threaten her family with a weapon.
Cedar Park police say Hovey was booked into the Travis County Jail on unrelated charges due to a warrant from another agency. According to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice records, Hovey was sentenced to 20 years in prison for an aggravated robbery out of the San Antonio area in 2003 and was paroled in May of 2017.
He was transferred back to TDCJ custody on Aug. 3, after violating his parole.
