Crews battle overnight fire in East Austin

News

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Fire fighters are trying to determine what caused an overnight fire in East Austin.

It happened at 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning on the 1100 block of Oak Grove Avenue.

The Austin Fire Department said it started in the water heater closet, before moving under the crawl space at the house.

Crews had trouble knocking it out, based on the location of the fire.

No word on the official damage, but AFD said 10 percent of the house was badly damaged.

This is a developing story.
