AUSTIN (KXAN) — Construction began Sunday on the Guadalupe Street and Lavaca Street driveways outside of Austin City Hall.
Crews are working to repair the driveways. They are removing the existing pavers and replacing them with concrete. The change is expected to improve the condition and lifespan of the driveways. It will also make them more accessible for people with disabilities.
The repairs will happen in two phases. Workers will start on the Lavaca Street driveway. Entrance and exit traffic will be redirected to Guadalupe Street while construction is being done.
During the second phase, workers will move to the Guadalupe Street driveway. During that time all garage traffic will be redirected to Lavaca Street.
The repairs will be underway every day from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. All of the work is expected to be done by Friday, July 15.
