Comal River closed in New Braunfels

News

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas (KXAN) — Heavy rains have prompted the New Braunfels Police Department to close the Comal River to recreation effective Sunday.

At the time of closure, the Comal River was registering a flow of 500 cubic feet per second, which has been deemed unsafe for use. The Guadalupe River has not been not been closed by city officials.

Though the Comal River will be reevaluated for safety on Monday, the National Weather Service is predicting more rain over the next several days, which could play a role in when the river will reopen.
